The British actor writes a letter to the The American Museum of
Historical Documents.
Typed Letter signed: "Garard Green", 1 page, 5½x7. Iver
Heath, Buckinghamshire, 1984 August 4. On his personal letterhead addressed
to Mr. Todd M. Axelrod, The American Museum of Historical Documents, Las Vegas,
Nevada. In full: "Dear Mr. Axelrod, Further to my recent letters (with
their enclosures) I now have pleasure in forwarding here with two scripts which
were actually used by myself in recording these Radio productions for the B.B.C.
I hope they will be of some interest and use to you. Perhaps you will be kind
enough to acknowledge their safe receipt? With best wishes. Sincerely yours"
British actor Garard Green (1924-2004) was born in Madras, India. A
graduate of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, he worked in
stage, film, radio and television for over forty years. His best remembered
films include The Strange Case of Dr. Manning (1957), The Crawling
Eye (1958), The Flesh and the Fiends (1960) and The Zebra Man
(1992). A leg injury he sustained while fighting in World War II led Green to
focus more on audio acting and he has performed over 3,000 BBC Radio
Productions and recorded over 200 audio books for the Royal National
Institute of the Blind. Green appeared
in numerous television programs including The Three Musketeers (1954),
The Vise (1959-1961), The Desperate People (1963), Danger
Island (1967) and The Life of Confucius (1998). Fine condition.
