Rare signature from the NBC news anchor and journalist
Signature: "Garrick/Utley", in black felt tip, 5x3. American
journalist Garrick Utley (1939-2014) began his career during the
Vietnam war, being the first correspondent to cover the war on-site. In
major broadcasting, Utley worked for NBC early in his career, being greatly
influenced by his parents who were radio correspondents for the broadcasting
company. His first position was as an anchor substitute, followed by a position
as a weekend anchor throughout the 1970's. Among his other news hosting duties
were roles on shows such as Meet the Press, The Today Show,
Live from the Met, and NBC Nightly News. He anchored on a
number of historical U.S. events, from the Roe v. Wade decision to the terrorist
attacks of 9/11. After working in several news circuits throughout his career,
Utley began teaching, becoming a professor of broadcasting and journalism at the
State University of New York at Oswego. He also authored a book in 2000, titled
You Should Have Been Here Yesterday. He passed away in 2014 after
battling prostate cancer. Toned. Corners lightly worn and creased. Pencil notes
