The cartoonist addresses and signs a post card on which is affixed a small newspaper
article about his commencement address at Colby College
Postcard inscribed and signed: "For Bill Wood-/all best wishes/from/Garry Trudeau", 5¾x4
affixed to a 6¼x5¾ sheet. Postmarked New York, NY, July 28, 1980. He has also addressed
the postcard. In 1975, Garry Trudeau of the Universal Press Syndicate became the first comic
strip cartoonist to be awarded the Pulitzer Prize in Editorial Cartooning. He has been
drawing "Doonesbury" since 1970, taking a year off in 1983-1984. Newspaper clipping
affixed below postcard. Irregularly cut lower corners on sheet. Light crease, light stain at upper
left corner of postcard. Mounting remnants on verso (no show through). Overall, fine
condition.
