Durable Hall of Fame catcher Gary Carter (1954-2012) was a clutch hitter (10 career grand slams), and skilled at handler of pitchers. He played for the Montreal Expos (1974-1984, 1992), New York Mets (1985-1989), San Francisco Giants (1990) and Los Angeles Dodgers (1991). Between 1977 and 1982, he led the National League in most chances six times, in putouts five times, assists four times, and double plays three times. Carter won 1981 All-Star Game MVP honors on the strength of two homers. He led the NL with a career-high 106 RBI in 1984, and won his second All-Star Game MVP that season. He appeared in 11 All-Star Games, won 3 consecutive Golden Glove Awards (1980-1982), 5 Silver Slugger Awards (1981, 1982, 1984, 1985, 1986) and his Jersey #8 has been retired by the Montreal Expos. The Montreal Expos, the first Major League baseball team to be based in a Canadian city (1969), moved to Washington, D.C., becoming the Nationals in 2004. Fine condition.
