GARY COLEMAN
Postcard photo, wearing a railroad hat, inscribed, and signed
twice
Postcard Photograph inscribed and signed: "Your friend/Gary
Coleman" and on verso "Dear Trinia, Thank you for your letter.
Sincerely, Gary Coleman". B/w 3½x5½ picture postcard. Los Angeles postmark
with illegible date. Gary Coleman (1968-2010), starred as Arnold Jackson on
the hit TV sitcom Diff'rent Strokes (1978-1986), making popular the
query, "What 'chu talkin' bout." Like co-stars Todd Bridges and the late
Dana Plato, he found life difficult after child stardom. (He's been involved in
fracases with spouses and autograph seekers.) However, Coleman has remained an
active performer, making many TV guest appearances (not a few of which parody
his earlier self). In 1993, he won a $1.28 million law suit against his parents
and former business manager. He ran for Governor of California in the 2003
recall election (which simultaneously chose a new Governor), winning over 14,000
votes despite his stated intention to vote for Arnold Schwarzenegger, the
eventual winner. He appeared on Divorce Court in May, 2008, trading
accusations with his young wife of two years. Paper loss on verso (previous
mounting) affecting "G" of
signature on verso. Edges and corners lightly creased and worn. Lightly
creased.
