GARY CROSBY
Shown in a movie still from A Private's Affair, the actor signs and inscribes in blue ink.
Inscribed photograph signed: "To/Charles-/God Bless/Gary Crosby". B/w, 10x8. A scene from the 20th Century Fox Production A Private's Affair (1959) in Cinemascope (captioned in lower margin). Gary Crosby (1933-1995),the eldest (and look-alike) son of legendary crooner/actor Bing Crosby and his wife, Dixie Lee, first appeared (as himself, along with his three brothers) in two of his father's films, Star Spangled Rhythm (1942) and Duffy's Tavern (1945). While still a teenager, Gary dueted on two songs, "Sam's Song" and "Play a Simple Melody", with his father, and the record became the first double-sided gold recording. In the 1950s, Gary and his brothers formed a relatively successful singing group, "The Crosby Boys", but Gary later left to begin a solo acting career, debuting in Mardi Gras in 1958. His other feature film credits include Holiday for Lovers (1959), A Private's Affair (1959), Battle at Bloody Beach (1961), Operation Bikini (1963) and Girl Happy (1965), and he also appeared in several made-for-TV movies. Crosby found success on the small screen, becoming a regular in such series as The Bill Dana Show (1963-1965) and Adam-12 (1968-1975, as Officer Ed Wells) and guest starring on a long list of TV shows, from The Jack Benny Program and Shower of Stars in 1955 through In the Heat of the Night (1992). Lightly toned. Corners creased. Signature lightly beaded, but legible. Ink note (unknown hand) on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
