GARY HART
Senator Gary Hart responds to a request for a special saying
Typed Letter Signed: "Gary Hart"1p. 8x10½, Senatorial Letterhead. Washington, D.C., 1979 March 20. To: Mr. Paul Friscot, North Canton, Ohio. In Full: Dear Mr. Friscot: Thank you for your very nice letter. I wish I had just one saying that meant a lot to me but unfortunately, I do not. I do appreciate your taking the time to drop me a line and hope you will let me know if I can be of any assistance to you in the future. With best wishes, Sincerely," Gary Hart, a U.S. Senator from Colorado (1975-1987), contended seriously for the Democratic Presidential nomination in 1984 and was the frontrunner in the 1988 contest until knocked from the race by charges of marital infidelity. He co-chaired the U.S. National Security Commission for the 21st Century, which warned in 1999 that a major terrorist attack on American soil was likely in the near future. Since leaving office, Hart earned a doctorate in politics from Oxford (2001) and in 2006, accepted a professorship at the University of Colorado. He has written or co-authored numerous books and articles, including four novels, two under the pen name John Blackthorn. Horizontal fold creases. Fine condition.
