GARY HART
Senator Hart thanks VP of U.S. Gypsum for the job they are doing
Typed Letter Signed: "Gary Hart" as U.S. Senator from Colorado, 1p, 8½x11. Washington, D.C., 1981 April 6. On United States Senate letterhead to Mr. John S. Bush, Jr., Vice President, Governmental Affairs, United States Gypsum Company, Washington, D.C. In full: "Thanks for writing and sending information on U.S. Gypsum. I appreciate your keeping me informed. Your accomplishments in productivity, energy conservation, and workers safety are to be commended. I hope these are indicative of trends throughout American industry. Again, thanks. Let's stay in touch on important matters during the coming months. Sincerely". Gary Warren Hart (born in 1936), a U.S. Senator from Colorado from 1975-1987, contended seriously for the Democratic Presidential nomination in 1984 and 1988. He was the frontrunner in the 1988 contest until knocked from the race by charges of marital infidelity. Hart later co-chaired the U.S. National Security Commission for the 21st Century, which warned in 1999 that a major terrorist attack on American soil was likely in the near future. Ink slightly smudged at the "G". Slightly creased with folds, lower horizontal fold at the descender of the "H". Pin holes at upper left margin, date stamp at upper right edge, pencil check mark at upper right margin. Fine condition.
