GAY TALESE
The journalist signs a note to radio personality George Sanders, with
his admiration and thanks
Autograph note signed: "For -/George Sanders/With admiration and
thanks -/Gay Talese/November 1, 1971", 6¾x9. Magazine photo (color, 1¼x2½)
of his book Honor Thy Father affixed in upper right corner. Called by Tom
Wolfe "the creator of the New Journalism," Talese resists that title. In any
case, his exhaustive research and elegant style have made him a successful
journalist, whether at article or book length. His successful books, usually
on provocative subjects, include The Kingdom and the Power (1969, about
the New York Times), Honor Thy Father (1971, about a crime family),
Thy Neighbor's Wife (1980, about changing sexual mores) and Unto the
Sons (1992, about Italian-American immigrants). George R. Sanders,
originally a disc jockey, became a prominent radio/TV interview host, first in
Los Angeles and later in Portland.Slightly frayed left edge where page
was removed from a book. Light paperclip stain at center of top edge. Otherwise,
fine condition.
