'Press' -/To/Miss/Foster/'some sweetie'/Gene/Ahern", 3½x4¼ card. Ink drawing
of the character Buster, with pencil blocking marks. Gene Ahern (1895-1960) drew
several comics, including "Otto Auto", "The Nut Bros." and "The Squirrel Cage."
His most successful strip, however, was "Our Boarding House," which he drew from
1921 to 1936. Then he changed syndicates and continued the cartoon under a
different name, "Room & Board." Major Hoople, the most famous character from
"Our Boarding House," was spun off as a radio program (1942-1943). Soiled and
lightly toned at edges. Toned and soiled at all edges. ¼ notch at
top edge.
