GENE MICHAEL
The ball player pens his signature in black ink on this index card
Signature: "Gene Michael" 5x3 card. Gene Michael (1938-2017), who played mostly at shortstop, spent ten years in the Major Leagues (1976-1985). Although he was considered to be a relatively weak hitter, due to his fine fielding and "heads up" play "Stick", as he was called, earned a spot on both NL and AL teams. He played for the Pittsburgh Pirates (1966), Los Angeles Dodgers (1967), New York Yankees (1968-1974) and Detroit Tigers (1975). He later managed the Yankees (1981-1982) and Chicago Cubs (1986-1987) and has been a top Yankees executive since 1996. Pencil note (in an unknown hand) on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
