To: "Muriel," in full: "I honestly, could do much better with a typewriter--Hope you can read this." Gene Nelson (1920-1996), an actor, director and screenwriter, appeared on both stage and screen. He earned a Tony Award nomination for Follies and won the Golden Globe as Most Promising Newcomer (1951) for his role in Tea for Two. He appeared in over 25 films, the last being S.O.B. (1981). Nelson directed a number of movies, including the Elvis Presley vehicles Kissin' Cousins (1963) and Harum Scarum (1965), and the TV episodes of The Rifleman, The Donna Reed Show and Mod Squad. Light adhesive residue on verso (no show through). Small tear in top left corner. Overall, fine condition. Photograph bowed. Corners and edges worn. Red ink smudge at top right corner. Pencil notes in unknown hand on verso (no show-through). Image creased with light surface scratches.
