Nelson signed this typed letter on his personalized stationery to Mary Jean Parson in 1950, thanking her for a letter. Comes with original mailing envelope and an application to the Official Gene Nelson Fan Club.
Typed letter signed "Gene Nelson". 1 page,6x6¾, on Nelson's personalized stationery from Warner Brothers Studios. Dec. 27, 1950. Addressed to "Mary Jean". In full: "Dear Mary Jean, Thanks for the very nice letter. I hope you'll like 'West Point Story' and Lullaby of Broadway' as much as the others. Sincerely,". Lightly toned and creased. Paper clip impression in upper left corner. Accompanied by two items: 1) Original mailing envelope from Warner Brothers Studios inscribed with Nelson's name, postmarked Dec. 29, 1950, Beverly Hills, California, addressed to Miss Mary Jean Parson, Haleyville, Alabama, with one 3¢ purple-and-white Thomas Jefferson stamp affixed. With "January 3, 1951" written in purple ink on verso in unknown hand. Lightly toned, soiled and stained. Adhesive along flaps has discolored paper on verso. Otherwise in fine condition. 2) Blank one-page application to the Official Gene Nelson Fan Club. 4¾x3. Lightly toned, otherwise in fine condition. Nelson (1920-1996, born Leander Eugene Berg in Seattle, Washington), an actor, director and screenwriter, appeared on both stage and screen. He directed a number of films, including the Elvis Presley vehicles Kissin' Cousins (1963) and Harum Scarum (1965), and the TV series The Rifleman, The Donna Reed Show and Mod Squad.
