GENE RODDENBERRY Contract with Avasta Productions, granting it exclusive rights to his Submarine Story Contract signed: "Gene Roddenberry", 2 pages (front and verso), 8½x11. No place, 1962 June 25. Roddenberry assigns all rights to a teleplay entitled The Submarine Story to Avasta Productions. Gene Roddenberry (1921-1991), a decorated bomber pilot in WWII, became a film and TV writer in the 1950s, working on such shows as Dragnet and Have Gun, Will Travel. He is best known, however, as the creator of the original Star Trek series (1966-1969) and the dominant influence during his lifetime on the Trek films (from 1979) and successor TV series (from 1987). While Star Trek had its share of villains, Roddenberry always regarded ignorance, prejudice and war as the main enemies. His vision of the human future was humane and optimistic. Filing holes at top edge. Staple at top left corner. Lightly toned around edges. Corners lightly worn. Two horizontal mailing folds. Otherwise, fine condition.
