GENE SCHULZE The medical doctor who went overseas multiple times to care for the sick signed this index card in ink Signature: "Gene Schulze" in ink. 5x3 lined index card. Gene Schulze (ca. 1912-1999) was a medical doctor who lived in Flatonia, Texas, for most of his life. He went on multiple tours overseas to Vietnam during the Vietnam War to care for the sick. A psychiatrist, he ran a mental health institution that was overcrowded. In 1970, the doctor published The Third Face of War, a book which discussed his experiences in Vietnam. It was awarded the Carr P. Collins Award for best non-fiction book. Three other books of his were published, including Yesterday's Seasons (1979), Schweitzer: Shadow of a Star (1993), and MIKE. Schulze passed away in 1999. Note in unknown hand on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
