ADOLF GALLAND and JAMES H. DOOLITTLE
Decorated World War II Aces meet.
Photograph signed: "Adolf Galland" and "J.H. Doolittle". Color, 6¾x5, thought to have been taken c.1970. German Ace GALLAND is credited with downing 103 enemy aircraft. He was the first German to receive the oak leaves and swords on his knight's cross. American Ace DOOLITTLE led the first raid over Tokyo and was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. Red ink impressions under both signatures. It appears that a red pen was first used to sign, but proved unsatisfactory, and both men signed with other pens. Fine condition.
