Philatelic Envelope signed: "Adolf Galland," "Assi Hahn," "Theo Osterkamp," "Joseliko Fozo," "Franzisket" and " Richard Leppla," 63/8x43/8. Commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, pictorial postmark: British Forces 1120 Postal Service, 1970 September 19. British stamp commemorates the first non-stop Atlantic flight of Alcock and Brown in 1919. A biography of each fighter ace is printed in German on the envelope. Small mounting remnant at blank bottom right corner, else fine condition. With EIGHT unsigned b/w photographs of all signers, from 21/2x31/2 to 51/2x4 in size. Fine condition. From September 1940 through May 1941, German planes bombed London nearly every night. These raids came to be known as the London Blitz. Adolf Galland was Commander in Chief of the Luftwaffe Fighter Arm from 1941-1945. In his memoirs published in 1953, Galland claimed that future group commanders of the German air force had been needlessly sacrificed during the Battle of Britain due to the mistaken strategy of the Luftwaffe. Hahn and Leppla fought in Russia; Leppla was wounded. Osterkamp flew over the English Channel and Italy. Franzisket had missions over England and Africa. Fozo flew over Spain. Nine items.
