ANDREW J. GOODPASTER. TLS: "A J Goodpaster" as Supreme Allied Commander, 1p, 7x10. Supreme Allied Command Europe, SHAPE, Belgium, 1972 August 12. To William J. Luetge, Milwaukee, enclosing "a copy of my official biography" [not present]. In World War II, Andrew J. Goodpaster commanded the 48th Engineer Combat Battalion in North Africa and Italy, receiving the Distinguished Service Cross. He served as Deputy Commander of U.S. forces in Vietnam, and, as the Supreme Allied Commander in Europe (1969-1974), the Commander of NATO forces. From 1977-1981, General Goodpaster was the Superintendent of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Type transfer at lower blank margin. Fine condition.
