BRUCE C. CLARKE and RICHARD "SWEET" SUE
Signature: "Bruce C. Clarke/General, U.S.A.", 7x9¼ album leaf with
newspaper clipping and photo of Clarke (b/w, 2¾x6¾ overall, image ¾x1¾) affixed
below signature. Clipping, dated 1966 July 8, is titled "Clarke Sees U.S.
Winning Viet Nam War." Inscribed signature on verso: "To
George/Richard I. Sue". Newspaper photo of Sue (b/w, 1¾x6½) and
complimentary press ticket for a fight between Sue and Rafiu "Joe" King, April
23, 1966 affixed below signature.
Combat commander in the 7th and 4th Armored Divisions from 1943-1945,
General CLARKE participated in the Battle of the Bulge. He was
Commanding General of the 2nd Constabulary Brigade (1949-1951), Commanding
General of the 1st Armored Division, (1951-1953) and was Commander in Chief
of the US Army in Europe (1960-1962). A hands-on manager, Clark observed:
"An organization does well only the things the boss checks." Asian-American
featherweight boxer Richard "Sweet" SUE, active in the ring
1963-1971, retired with a record of 32-9-2, including 20 wins by knockout. Ink
page numbers (unknown hand) in lower corner. Unevenly toned. Slightly frayed
edge where page was removed from a book. Otherwise, fine
condition.
