B/w, 8x10. Dean Coldwell Strother (1908-2000) held important commands in
World War II, including command of the Solomon Islands Fighter Command (1943)
and of the 15th Air Force (Italy, 1944). He led a US fighter group operating on
the Eastern Front in support of the Russians. He held increasingly important
posts for two decades after the war, culminating in command of the North
American Air Defense Command (NORAD) and Continental Air Defense (CONAD) from
1965 to 1966. Ink note (unknown hand) on verso. Lightly creased. Signature in
poor contrast (still legible). Otherwise, fine condition.
