Army Signal Corps, with red ink stamp photo credit on verso. Chesarek (1914-1993) was an artillery officer with General George S. Patton's 3rd Army during World War II and participated in the Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns. He received the Silver Star, the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Medal, Purple Heart and French Criox de Guerre with Palm and Star for his efforts there. He earned an MBA from Stanford in 1953 and, in 1954, commanded the 5th Artillery Group in South Korea. Chesarek eventually rose to the rank of full general as the second Commanding General of the U. S. Army's Materiel Command in 1969, where he supervised 250,000 Army and civilian personnel and a $14 billion budget until his retirement in 1970. After retirement, he was an officer in two international trading companies and, in 1985, co-founded the wireless company Proxim. Lightly toned, cracked, creased and bowed. Light tear in top left corner. Lightly chipped at top and bottom edges. Paper clip impression in top left corner. Lightly soiled on verso. Otherwise in fine condition.
