The four-star United States General signed and sent this typed letter to Mr.
J. L. Pruett
Typed Letter Signed: “J Michaelis” in black ink on a 7x8½ letter. Dated March
8, 1973. Letterhead features the four-star general rank flag of the United States
Army. In Part: “The United States Army is a product and reflection of the
American people and your interest in this historic and selfless institution is
encouraging”. General John H. Michaelis (1912-1985) was a military veteran
who served in the United States Army from 1936-1972. He served in WWII
and the Korean War. He was named the United Nations Command Commander,
the United States Forces Korea Commanding General, and the Eight United
States Army General from 1969-1972. Michaelis' numerous decorations include
two Silver Stars and the Distinguished Service Medal. Mailing crease. Note on
verso in unknown hand in bottom right corner. Otherwise, fine condition.
