of the Air Force. After taking part in the North Africa campaign in 1942-1943,
Lauris Norstad became Chief of Staff of the 20th Air Force under General
Hap Arnold's direct command. Promoted to Major General in June 1945,
Norstad had direct responsibility for planning the atomic bomb missions
carried out over Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945. He served as
Commander of NATO forces from 1956 to 1963. Lightly creased in lower
right corner. Otherwise, fine condition.
