Photograph signed: "Thomas D. White", "M.D. Taylor", "N.F. Twining", "Arleigh Burke"and "RMcC Pate". B/w, 10x8. U.S. Army photograph taken September 6, 1957, captioned on verso. General NATHAN F. TWINING (1897-1982) was named Chief of Staff of the U.S. Air Force in 1953. He was sworn in as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in August 1957, serving until 1960. General MAXWELL D. TAYLOR (1901-1987) served as Chief of Staff of the Army from 1955-1959. He was later named Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (1962-1964). General THOMAS D. WHITE (1902-1965) had been named the fourth U.S. Air Force Chief of Staff in July 1957, serving until his retirement in 1961. Admiral ARLEIGH BURKE (1901-1996) served as Chief of Naval Operations from 1955-1961, longer than any predecessor. General RANDOLPH McCALL PATE (1898-1961) was Commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps from 1956-1959. Surprisingly, signed group photographs of the Joint Chiefs of Staff are rarely encountered. Minor surface creases. 2 stray ink marks at center of upper margin. Overall, fine condition.
