Signatures: "Omar N Bradley.", "Elizabeth Bradley Beukema", "Mary Q. Bradley, Moberly, Mo." and "Henry S Beukema", 9¾x2¾. Dated (unknown hand) at upper margin: "Mar. 26". Pencil notes (unknown hand) to right of the lower three signatures, identifying each's relationship to Bradley). Two unrelated signatures on verso, portion of writing at lower margin of Bradley side. Bradley had moved to Moberly, Missouri during his junior year in high school. Lieutenant General OMAR NELSON BRADLEY (1893-1981) took command of the First Army in January 1944, which, constituting the Allied right wing, landed at Utah and Omaha beaches, Normandy, on D-Day, June 6, 1944. In August 1944, he became the Commander of the 12th Army Group, the largest force ever commanded on the field. In 1950, Bradley was promoted to Five-Star General of the Army. He served as the first Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff from 1949-1953. MARY ELIZABETH QUAYLE BRADLEY (1892-1965), Bradley's first wife, married Bradley on December 28, 1916. The couple were married for 49 years. Their daughter, ELIZABETH BRADLEY, was born in 1923. She was married to HENRY S. BEUKEMA. Henry's father, Herman, was an Army artillery officer who had attended West Point and was a lifelong friend of General Bradley's. Slightly creased. Lightly shaded at perimeter. Overall, fine condition.
