OMAR BRADLEY. Envelope signed: "Omar N Bradley" as General of the Army at upper left corner above typed title, 6½x3½. Two 5-cent U.S. Flag stamps affixed, postmarked Flushing, N.Y., July 23, 1963. Typed "20 September 1950", the day he was promoted to Five-Star General, at upper left. Addressed by typewriter to: "Miss Terry Wood, Chestnut Hill, Mass." Omar Nelson Bradley (1893-1981) took command of the First Army in January 1944, which, constituting the Allied right wing, landed at Utah and Omaha beaches, Normandy, on D-Day, June 6, 1944. In August 1944, he became the Commander of the 12th Army Group, the largest force ever commanded on the field. On September 20, 1950, Bradley was promoted to Five-Star General of the Army. He served as the first Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff from 1949-1953. Lightly soiled. Fine condition.
