OMAR BRADLEY. Matchbook signed: "Omar N Bradley", 4½x1½
when opened. Matchbook from Hollywood Park Thoroughbred Racing Park. Dated at
left (unknown hand): "July 1972". Omar Nelson Bradley (1893-1981) took
command of the First Army in January 1944, which, constituting the Allied
right wing, landed at Utah and Omaha beaches, Normandy, on D-Day, June 6, 1944.
In August 1944, he became the Commander of the 12th Army Group, the largest
force ever commanded on the field. On September 20, 1950, Bradley was
promoted to Five-Star General of the Army. He served as the first
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff from 1949-1953. Staple holes at blank
left portion. Fine condition.
