GENERAL OMAR N. BRADLEY
Five-Star General Omar N. Bradley signed this typed letter to an autograph hunter on his personalized stationery in 1964.
Typed letter signed "Omar N Bradley". 1 page, 7x10½, on Bradley's personalized stationery. May, 20, 1964. Addressed to Mr. John Blumenthal, Middletown, New York. In full: "Dear Mr. Blumenthal: Thank you for your recent letter and in keeping with your request, enclosed find my autograph [not included]. With all best wishes, Sincerely em Enclosures". Bradley (1893-1981, born near Clark, Missouri) took command of the First Army in January of 1944, which, constituting the Allied right wing, landed at Utah and Omaha beaches, Normandy on D-Day, June 6, 1944. In August of 1944, he became the Commander of the 12th Army Group, the largest force ever commanded on the field. Bradley served as the first Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff from 1949 to 1953, being promoted to Five-Star Generalof the Army in 1950. Lacking the arrogance and ostentation of some other generals, Bradley became known as "the soldier's general." Paper clip impressions near top left corner. Folded twice and unfolded. Otherwise in fine condition.
