In full: "Thank you for your letter of July 11th extending an invitation to me on behalf of the Philadelphia Council of United World Federalists to attend their annual dinner in your city on Thursday, November 17th. Much as I appreciate this invitation -- and the courtesy of extending it at an early date -- I find that I cannot possibly work it into my schedule. Please convey my thanks to the committee concerned for the consideration shown me, as well as my regret that I am unable to accept. Thank you also for writing to me personally on behalf of the council. With all best wishes, I am Sincerely". Omar Nelson Bradley (1893-1981) took command of the First Army in January 1944, which landed at Utah and Omaha beaches, Normandy, on D-Day, June 6, 1944. In August 1944, he became the Commander of the 12th Army Group, the largest force ever commanded on the field. On September 20, 1950, Bradley was promoted to Five-Star General of the Army. He served as the first Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff from 1949-1953. Fine condition.
