TLS: "Omar" as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, 1p, 7x10¼. Washington, D.C., 1952 September 2. On his Five-Star General letterhead to Mr. Paul W. Kieser, Toledo, Ohio. In full: "Thanks very much for sending us the editorial from the Toledo Blade. Mary and I enjoyed reading it. I note that you plan to be in Washington in late November. I hope you will contact me and we'll try to get together. My telephone number at the office is Liberty 5-6700, extension 71321. It will be nice to see you again. Mary joins me in best wishes to you and Portia. Sincerely". Lieutenant General Omar Nelson Bradley (1893-1981) took command of the First Army in January 1944, which, constituting the Allied right wing, landed at Utah and Omaha beaches, Normandy, on D-Day, June 6, 1944. In August 1944, he became the Commander of the 12th Army Group, the largest force ever commanded on the field. In 1950, Bradley was promoted to Five-Star General of the Army. He served as the first Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff from 1949-1953. Lightly creased with folds, not at signature. Pencil erasures at upper left blank margin. Fine condition.
