P.S. ROSSITER. TLS: "P.S. Rossiter" as Surgeon General,
U.S. Navy, ¾p, 8x10½. Washington, D.C., 1937 January 14. On
letterhead of the Department of the Navy, Bureau of Medicine and Surgery to Dr.
William B. Peck, Freeport, Illinois. In full: "I am returning, as
requested, the galley of my address at the Association Dinner at St. Paul."
Percival Sherer Rossiter began his service as Surgeon General of the U.S.
Navy in 1933. In 1899, as Acting Assistant Surgeon General, the future Rear
Admiral had reported on the outbreak of yellow fever in Havana. Lightly creased
with folds, not at signature. Mounting remnants on verso, light show through at
lower blank margin. Pencil notes (unknown hand) at lower margin. Overall, fine
condition.
