The highly accomplished U.S. Army General signs this black and white photo with an inscription to a fan
Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Thomas L. Alford Sr./with kindest regards/Paul D. Adams USA (Retd)". B/w, 8x10. Paul DeWitt Adams (1906-1987) was a General in the United States Army. He attended the United States Military Academy, graduating in 1928, being commissioned into the infantry. While serving in WWII, Adams was Commanding Officer of the 143rd Infantry, 36th Infantry Division within the Mediterranean Theater and European Theater (1944-1945). He consecutively served as Commanding General, 25th Infantry Division, Chief of Staff of X Corps, and Chief of Staff Eighth United States Army during the Korean War. After the war, he was Commanding General of the 101st Airborne Division, from June to December 1953 and later served as Commanding General of U.S. Army Forces in the Middle East in 1958. After receiving his fourth star in 1961, he became Commander-in-Chief, United States Strike Command, from 1961 until 1966, when he retired from the Army. Lightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
