In full: "I am most happy to comply with your request to send you this autographed photograph [not included] to add to the collection for your children. In my assignment as Commandant of Cadets, I am, of course, primarily concerned with the education and training of young men for future careers as Officers of the Regular United States Army. To illustrate briefly what this program consists of, I am inclosing a booklet [not included] which may be of interest to your children now or in the future. With best regards, Sincerely". The mission of the Commandant of Cadets is: "To develop each Cadet into a commissioned leader of character who possesses the will to win, personal courage, adaptability, physical fitness and mental toughness essential to the profession of arms, and is inspired to a career of professional excellence in the United States Army."
