During World War II Robert W. Porter, Jr. (1908-2000, USMA 1930) served
with the 1st Infantry Division in North Africa and Sicily, and with II Corps
in Italy. His later duty assignments included US Representative to the
Central Treaty Organization, command of the US 1st Army, and leadership of
the U.S. Southern Command, responsible for all U.S. military activities on
the land mass of Latin America south of Mexico, and the Caribbean. After
retirement from the army Porter found a new passion; he was Virginia Tree
Farmer of the Year (1995). Signature is poor contrast but legible. Edges
lightly creased. Unknown mark at lower right corner. Otherwise, fine condition.
