William Childs Westmoreland (1914-2005), a veteran of WWII, was Superintendent of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point (1960-1963) and Commander of the U.S. Military Assistance Command, Vietnam, and United States Army, Vietnam, at the peak of the Vietnam War (1964-1968). Westmoreland, who then served as Army Chief of Staff (1968-1972), supervised the Army's disengagement from Vietnam and the transition from the draft to an all-volunteer army. Lightly creased with folds, horizontal fold at the upper portion of the first "W" in signature. Irregular upper edge from removal from pad. Fine condition.
