After performing with other jazz and rock groups, Collins joined the band Genesis in 1970 as a drummer. In 1974, he replaced Peter Gabriel as the group's lead singer. Genesis went on to score its biggest album hits in the late 1970s. While continuing to perform with Genesis, Collins released his first solo album, Face Value, in 1981. It sold more copies than any Genesis release. Collins continued his dual role until 1995, when he left the group to concentrate on solo recording and tours. Slightly creased at corners.
