GENEVIEVE ANTOINE DARIAUX and BARRY YOUNG
Signed autograph notes (1965 and 1966) on the guest book of Portland radio/TV interview host George Sanders. Barry Young died in a car crash shortly after signing.
Autograph Notes signed: "To all/the great guys/here on KWJJ/Best Wishes/Barry Young", "3-23-66(Me too!/(the better half?/Donalie", and on verso "To George Sanders KWJJ/with many thanks and/best wishes/Genevieve Antoine Dariaux/November 20th 1965", 6¾x9¼ with 8x5 sheet affixed to verso (two surfaces). Unsigned ink note, probably in Sanders' hand: "Barry Young, a country-western/singer, was killed in an auto/accident shortly after signing this book." Ink page number: "90." GENEVIEVE ANTOINE DARIAUX is a French costume and jewelry designer and former director of Nina Ricci fashions. She wrote several books on fashion and etiquette, including A Guide to Elegance and Entertaining with Elegance(1965). A recent novel, Elegance, by Kathleen Tessaro, tells the story of a frumpy middle-aged woman who transforms her life after finding a 40-year old copy of Dariaux's book. BARRY YOUNG was a country-oriented pop singer who recorded with Dot Records in the early 1960s. His biggest hit was "One Has My Heart, The Other Has My Name," released in early 1966 and included on his album One Has My Name. Donalie, his wife, had obviously accompanied him on his visit to the KWJJ (Portland, Oregon) studio. George Sanders, a radio disc jockey turned radio/TV journalist and interview host, collected autographs from guests on his shows. Left edge ragged from previous binding. Ink note (unknown hand) at lower right edge. Minor show-through from front to verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
