interview host George Sanders. Barry Young died in a car crash shortly after
signing.

verso "To George Sanders KWJJ/with many thanks and/best wishes/Genevieve
Antoine Dariaux/November 20th 1965", 6¾x9¼ with 8x5 sheet affixed to verso
(two surfaces). Unsigned ink note, probably in Sanders' hand: "Barry Young, a
country-western/singer, was killed in an auto/accident shortly after signing
this book." Ink page number: "90." GENEVIEVE ANTOINE DARIAUX is a French
costume and jewelry designer and former director of Nina Ricci fashions. She
wrote several books on fashion and etiquette, including A Guide to
Elegance and Entertaining with Elegance(1965). A
recent novel, Elegance, by Kathleen Tessaro, tells the story of a frumpy
middle-aged woman who transforms her life after finding a 40-year old copy of
Dariaux's book. BARRY YOUNG was a country-oriented pop singer who
recorded with Dot Records in the early 1960s. His biggest hit was "One Has My
Heart, The Other Has My Name," released in early 1966 and included on his album
One Has My Name. Donalie, his wife, had obviously accompanied him on his
visit to the KWJJ (Portland, Oregon) studio. George Sanders, a radio disc
jockey turned radio/TV journalist and interview host, collected autographs from
guests on his shows. Left edge ragged from previous binding. Ink note (unknown
hand) at lower right edge. Minor show-through from front to verso. Otherwise,
fine condition.
