GEOFFREY HIBBERT and CYRIL FLETCHER
Handwritten note from the film and television actor to a fan, with a black and white signed photograph (5¼x4¼) of the British comedian on the verso. Extremely rare!
Autograph note signed: "To Eva/Sincerely Yours/Geoffrey Hibbert", "[illegible]/Cyril Fletcher", in black ink, 5¼x4¼. Black and white photograph of Fletcher affixed to verso, 2½x3½. Unknown hand dating signature circa 1943. Actor GEOFFREY HIBBERT (1920-1969) appeared in film and television in the 1940's, 1950's, and 1960's. He made his debut in 1941 in Love on the Dole, appearing in a few more film roles before taking a brief hiatus and reemerging in the 1950's. He thereafter appeared primarily in television, appearing on series like The Vise (1958), The Pursuers (1961), and No Hiding Place (1959). His last acting role was in 1969 on The First Lady. English comedian CYRIL FLETCHER (1913-2005) was most famous for his "Odd Odes", comedic poems read in an overly posh voice, with some of the poems being of his own creation. Although originally thought to first debut on the That's Life television series, Fletcher had actually been performing on radio for several years. He later become a popular panelist on What's My Line?, and was a founder of the Associated Speakers, an agency for after-dinner speakers. Adhesive residue on left margin. Light surface creases. Left edge slightly frayed. Corners slightly worn. Slightly toned. Photograph slightly soiled, toned, and worn at corners. Otherwise, fine condition.
