GEORGE ARLISS - AUTOGRAPH LETTER SIGNED 01/03/1913 - HFSID 88324

GEORGE ARLISS
George Arliss responds to offer of Disraeli souvenier
Autograph Letter Signed: "George Arliss," 1p, 5x8 opens to 10x8. Plymouth Theatre, Boston, 1913 January 3. In full: " Dear Sir- I should very much like to see the piece you describe. I may mention that I have a great number of Disraeli souvenirs, and so cannot afford to make any expensive addition to my collection. Any Evening or Matinee day, about half-an-hour before the curtain rises, I am to be seen at the theatre. Sincerely" George Arliss (1868-1946) was famed for his portrayal of historical figures, first on London and Broadway stages and later in silent, then talking films. He played Voltaire, Richlieu, Alexander Hamilton, Nathan Rothschild and the Duke of Wellington, among others and earned an Oscar as Best Actor in 1929 for Disraeli. Creased and worn at corners. Lightly soiled. Otherwise, fine condition.
