Wendell, Pittsfield, Massachusetts, 1914 May 4. To: Mr. Parker In
full: " My Dear Mr. Parker Your letter dated March 30th regarding the
reproduction of Miss Beaux's drawing has just reached me, having been
Heaven-Knows-Where in search of me. Anything you care to do with me or my
picture I may safely leave to your discretion, and be sure that I shall always
be the gainer. I have had to hack my record and give up work for ten days, but
am back again, feeling well. Very best wishes Yours truly" George
Arliss (1868-1946) was famed for his portrayal of historical figures,
first on London and Broadway stages and later in silent, then talking films. He
played Voltaire, Richlieu, Alexander Hamilton, Nathan Rothschild and the Duke of
Wellington, among others and earned an Oscar as Best Actor in 1929 for
Disraeli. Lightly soiled at folds along right edge. Otherwise, fine
condition.
