GEORGE BIDDLE. Original Caricatures inscribed and signed: "To
Thomas Pitts/with warm regards/George Biddle", 5x3 card. Two original pen
and ink drawings, one full face and one profile. American painter and writer
on art George Biddle (1885-1973), was an American Social Realist known for his
frescoes of public buildings in Washington, D.C. He influenced FDR to initiate
the Federal Art Project to employ artists in the 1930s and served as Chairman of
the War Department Art Commission during WWII. Pencil notes on verso (unknown
hand) date autograph: "7-23-64". Fine condition.
