George Burns, Gracie Allen and Ella Mae Morse sign an album leaf in ink.
Signature: "George Burns" and "Gracie Allen", 5¼x4½ album leaf. Co-signed on verso: "Sincerely/Ella/Mae/Morse". GEROGE BURNS, the star of vaudeville, radio, television and motion pictures, died in 1996 at the age of 100. He co-starred with his wife GRACIEALLEN until her retirement in 1958 (she died in 1964), then continued performing in television, theater and nightclubs as a solo act. When he returned to films in 1975 after a 30-year hiatus, Burns won the 1975 Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor (The Sunshine Boys). He later starred in the title role in Oh, God (1977) and appeared in Going in Style (1979) and 18 Again! (1988). The comedian, who was honored in television specials celebrating his 90th and 95th birthdays, also wrote Gracie, A Love Story (1988) and 100 Years, 100 Stories (1996). ELLA MAEMORSE (1924-1999) began her singing career with big bands. She worked briefly for Jimmy Dorsey, until he discovered she was only 14, not 19 as she had claimed. She made her first solo recording in 1943. She sang both pop and R&B, scoring her biggest hit, Blacksmith Blues (1952). Not a major star in her day, Morse is now regarded as an important influence on what would soon become rock 'n' roll. Creased. Uneven left edge where page has been cut from album. The Morse signature lightly shows through from verso, but signatures are clear and readable. Fine condition.
