Document signed: "George Cukor", 2p, 8½x11, separate sheets, affixed to 9x12¼ blue folder. No place, 1974 February 4.In letter form to Bluebird Productions, Inc., Lincolnwood, Illinois regarding a lending agreement between GBC Enterprises, Inc. (Cukor's company) and Bluebird for Cukor's services.Begins: "Reference is made to the agreement dated February 4, 1974 (herein called the 'Lending Agreement') between GDC ENTERPRISES, INC. (herein called 'Lender') and you covering the lending of the services of the undersigned by Lender to you. As an inducement to you to enter into the Lending Agreement and as a material part of the consideration moving to you for so doing, the undersigned hereby represents, warrants and agrees as follows..." Seven paragraphs relating to terms of the agreement follow. In 1973, the year before he signed this document, George D. Cukor (1899-1983) had been featured in the TV documentary, The Men Who Made the Movies: George Cukor.In 1975, Cukor directed the made-for-TV movie, Love Among the Ruins, which starred Katharine Hepburn and Laurence Olivier. The director moved from stage directing to Hollywood in the early 1930s. One of the greatest film directors, he was especially gifted at getting the most from actresses. Cukor earned a Best Director Academy Award for My Fair Lady (1964) and was nominated for four additional Oscars in the category: Little Women (1932-33), Philadelphia Story (1940), A Double Life (1947) and Born Yesterday (1950). Among his other highly praised efforts were Dinner At Eight (1933), David Copperfield (1935) and Gaslight (1944). Slightly creased. Stapled at upper blank margins. Fine condition.
