George Davis Snell (1903-1996) shared the 1980 Nobel Prize for
Medicine with Baruj Benacerraf and Jean Dausset for their discoveries
concerning genetically determined structures on the cell surface that regulate
immunological reactions. This work focused on histocompatibility (a
compatibility between the genetic makeup of donor and host such that a tissue
transplant from the former will not be rejected by the latter). Ink note
(unknown hand) on verso. Irregularly cut left edge. Otherwise, fine
condition.
