The music teacher and composer declines an invitation during a
forthcoming visit to Glasgow.
Autograph Letter signed: "G Dyson", 1 pages, 4½x7. Prince
Consort Road, 23 Kingsgate Street, Winchester (England). 1927 April 6.

letter and kind invitation. I am afraid my short time in Glasgow is already so
fully occupied that I cannot accept your kind hospitality. With my regrets.

Dyson (1883-1964), the father of physicist Freeman Dyson and the
grandfather of scientists George Dyson and Esther Dyson, taught at the
Royal College of Music from 1921, becoming its Director in 1937. His
compositions include a symphony in G minor, a violin concerto, major choral
works, and popular morning and evening canticles for the Church of England. A
combat veteran of World War I, he wrote a widely disseminated booklet on the use
of grenades. Multiple mailing folds. Toned. Otherwise, fine
