GEORGE BRETT. Philatelic Envelope signed: "George Brett", 6½x3½. Special Cover honoring Lou Gehrig, postmarked Stadium Station, Bronx, New York City, June 19, 1984, 20-cent stamp Babe Ruth stamp affixed. Cachet is captioned: "Lou Gehrig, June 19,1903-June 2, 1941" and beneath his photo "1923 - Lou Gehrig the Powerful Rookie". The envelope is part of a limited edition of 100 autographed sets sponsored by the National ALS Foundation, Inc. Yankee legend and Baseball Hall of Famer Gehrig was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, still better known as "Lou Gehrig's disease", in 1939 and died from it two years later. If a player ever had claim to the title "The Franchise," it would have to be George BRETT in Kansas City. Brett played his entire career for the Royals, leading them to six AL Championships and two World Series in their heyday of the late '70s and early '80s. He is the all-time team leader in every offensive category except for stolen bases. A perennial All-Star (1976-1988), Brett was the AL's Most Valuable Player (1980) and won a batting title in three separate decades (1976, 1980 and 1990). His brother Ken pitched in the major leagues for 13 years. Fine condition.
