GEORGE JONES. Photograph signed: "George Jones". B/w, 8x10 overall, image 7x7¾ (one surface). Photograph by J. Clark Thomas. Name imprinted at lower margin. George Jones (1931-2013), considered one of the finest vocalists in country music, ranks second among country music performers in Top 10 hits (only Eddy Arnold has had more). Jones, who won Grammy Awards for Country Male Vocal in 1980 ("He Stopped Loving Her Today", a No. 1 hit) and 1999 ("Choices"), had two No. 1 albums, I'm A People (1966) and Golden Ring (1976), and No. 1 hits with "White Lightning" (1959), "Tender Years" (1961), "She Thinks I Still Care" (1962), "Walk Through This World With Me" (1967), "We're Gonna Hold On" (1973), "The Grand Tour" (1974), "The Door" (1975), "The Golden Ring" (1976), "Near You" (1977), "Still Doin' Time" (1981), "Yesterday's Wine" (1982) and "I Always Get Lucky With You" (1983). Jones, who was married to country artist Tammy Wynette, his third wife (1969-1975), also recorded a number of duets with her, including "We Can Make It", both during and after their marriage (the couple would reunite for duets in 1980 and 1995). Jones, who also appeared in the feature films Forty Acre Feud (1965), From Nashville with Music (1969) and The Longest Yard (1974), chronicled his successes and his turbulent personal life in his 1996 autobiography, I Lived To Tell It All. Lightly creased at blank margins, minor surface creases (not evident head on). Fine condition.
