Signed letter complying to a request for an autograph, saying that he
cannot send out original cartoons any more as it was costing him too much
money
Typed letter signed: "George Lemont", in red felt tip, 6¾x5.
In full: "Dear Rose: Enclosed is the autograph requested. However, I
quit sending out originals a couple of years ago, when I realized it was costing
me almost $100 in postage (out of my own pocket) to do so. Thanks for your
interest. Sincerely". George Lemont (1922-1985) was a cartoonist,
drawing and authoring his Dr. Smock cartoon, which was
syndicated in more than 200 newspapers for over 10 years. Lemont was also a
local San Francisco celebrity, writing and narrating the local television
show Fireman Frank in the 1950's. Corners slightly worn and creased.
Slightly toned. Slight surface creases. Otherwise, fine condition.
