Washington, D.C. In full: "I am pleased to have been included in your
collection of autographed letters. Sincerely yours". The Architect of the
Capitol, appointed by the President but responsible to Congress, supervises the
operation, maintenance and preservation of the Capitol Complex, including
the US Capitol, the Library of Congress, the US Supreme Court building, the
Congressional office buildings, the Botanical Gardens and the Capitol power
plant. George M. White (b. 1920), appointed to the office for an

Congressional legislation passed in 1989 limited the Architect to a ten-year,

Hruska (1904-1999) represented Nebraska in the US House for one term before
being elected to the Senate, where he served from 1954 to 1976. A conservative
Republican, Hruska was an influential member of the Appropriations and Judiciary
Committees. Tape remnants on verso light show through. Mailing fold, not at
signature. Otherwise, fine condition.
