Maharis". B/w, 8x10. Stage, screen and television actor George Maharis is
best known for his role as Buzz Murdock (1960-1963) on the TV series,
Route 66. Near the end of the third season, Maharis left the show
over a contract dispute and was replaced by Glenn Corbett, who could not match
the chemistry Maharis had with co-star Martin Milner; the show lasted only one
more season. Maharis, who began his show business career as a singer, had made
his TV debut in 1953 on The Philco Television Playhouse, and he would go
on to roles in Search For Tomorrow (1960-1961), The Most Deadly
Game (1970-1971) and the miniseries, Rich Man, Poor Man
(1976). He made a number of made-for-TV movies and guest starred on a long list
of series, including several appearances on Fantasy Island and his last
TV spot on Murder, She Wrote (1990). Maharis was also in several feature
films, including Exodus (1960), The Sword and the Sorcerer
(1982) and Doppelganger (1993, his last film). Adequate contrast of
